The Art of Guiding & Stretching Energy For Healthy Living.

Learning some of the Li Family's Taoist Daoyin exercises can help maintain and improve good health by either controlling or preventing certain ailments.

The Li Family method of Daoyin/Qigong can be used for either Health, Self-Healing, Meditation or Martial Arts.

Today many people suffer with respiratory problems such as Asthma, Bronchitis, Pleurisy, Influenza and Pneumonia. Which can be caused by either poor working conditions, climatic changes, lack of exercise or smoking. Here are some easy Daoyin/Qigong exercises that can help to strengthen the Lungs and improve the breathing capacity. These particular exercises have been taken from the Li style Taijiquan and the Chang Ming Daoyin/Qigong systems.

Doctors in the west tell us for the respiratory system to fully function the Lungs take in 3000ml of air; this is the vital capacity, with each inspiration 400ml of air enters the upper respiratory tract; of this amount 150ml is held in the passages of the upper respiratory tract and the remaining 250ml reaches the Lungs for diffusion. This amount is neccesary for normal metabolic function.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine the Lungs govern respiration and heavenly Qi. On the inhale it draws in "pure Qi" and exhales the "dirty Qi" it then spreads the pure Qi all over the body to nourish all tissues, the Lungs also aids the Heart in promoting good circulation to the limbs.

Sadly due to the conditions mentioned above, some individuals lose the strength of the muscles of the Lungs to fully ventilate. Which can then slowly weaken the energy of the Lungs and cause infection. Through the gentle, slow exercises of Daoyin/Qigong the individual can slowly help to:

  • Strengthen The Muscles That Surround The Lungs.
  • Increase The Breathing Capacity.
  • Increase The Concentration Levels.
  • Increase The Metabolism Of The Whole Body.
