The Throwing & Wrestling System.

Every Chinese martial art be it Taoist or Shaolin based. involves throwing and wrestling techniques that can be performed from either punching, kicking or positions where the individual is being held

The Li Family art of Shuaijiao sometimes also called Chi Shu (Breath Art) combines joint locking and seizing techniques (Qinna) alongside fast throwing techniques (Kuai Jiao) like hip, shoulder and leg throws. Usually with in the Li Family Internal Arts Association the Shuaijiao is taught and practised separate on its own. But it can also be combined into the other related arts that are taught as part of the Li Family System like Feng Shou Quan-Gong Fu and Li Style Taijiquan.

The practise of Shuaijiao is an ideal self defence system for everyone. As it teaches you how to escape from various grips and holds that an attacker might use. Especially when attacking females. Below is an example of such a situation where the practise of Shuaijiao can be very useful as a self defence method for girls or women.

1. The attacker places his right hand across the mouth and his left hand grips the females hair from behind.

2. The female uses her both hands to grasp at the attacker's hand which is across her mouth. At the same time she uses her left foot to back heel kick into the attacker's shin and immediately stomps downwards onto his foot.

3. She then quickly turns her body to her left side, so that she is side-on to her attacker. She then shoots a back elbow to his body using her left elbow and immediately slap his groin with her left hand.

4. Stepping quickly backwards with her left foot and slipping out underneath the attackers right arm she then applies a "Breaking the Chickens Wing Wrist Lock" which is quickly followed up with a lift kick to the attacker's head.

5. After kicking the attacker she steps out to her right side and throws the attacker on to his back using a Wrist Lock Hand Throw.

The above is a basic example of how the practise of the Li Jia Shuaijiao can be a very useful tool to have at your finger tips, irrespective of what martial art you may study. In traditional Chinese Shuaijiao circles there is a saying that is used to fully demonstrates the high  skill of its practitioners and it goes like.

"As soon as I am touched the attacker is thrown".
